Dream about building a free and open source testing suite to disrupt the market as it is now. Built by you, QA Engineers, DevOps, and PMOs, for the community, for better software quality, easing test automation and risk mitigation.

The motto “Libertas perfundet omnia luce”1 means "Freedom illuminates all things with its light", alluding to the freedom that thought and critical judgment give to the human being.
Today we are more and more governed by the rhythm of robotic algorithms enhanced with ever more intelligent routines that enter even in the farest and most private corners of our lives. The amount of analyzed data requires more and more unimaginable amounts of energy.
How will we test this complex world where everything is depending on anything, always connected and constantly changing at a pace never seen before?
Today we use open source tools, like cypress, cucumber, selenium, java, python to code our tests. “We” means, the QA Engineers, the DevOps. “We” means the community of testers that want to achieve better quality in this ever faster changing world. “We” does not mean that we do this together. We do this mostly alone. Sometimes we ask a community to help us solve questions around test automation and coding.
Today we find ourselves in a dystopia, dominated by companies, nurtured by Venture Capital, that hold their code and algorithms as closed source offering you on-prem intrusion or cloud hosted data storage. It is not our data anymore. Algorithms are patented. We are depending on them. We are giving away our freedom. In the not so far
future, they will monetize their investment (which was built on open source, sigh!).

Let’s dream a dream, where the “we” build together what we need for everybody to use and work on and with, to get even better results while remaining in the ownership of every single bit.
Cometa is today the one and only 100% open source testing suite for functional and visual regression testing. It is free, it is open. The company behind, cometa rocks s.l., is an Open Startup. Cometa has been developed for Daimler AG in Germany and truly provides enterprise grade security and functionality. It was published under AGPLv3.
Let’s share our problems and pain points, let’s share our code, let’s make this world a better world by building together a tool that is made from us for us. Let’s share the happiness of having control over things we use to be more efficient in what we are doing.
